Electrochemical Characterization of NdBa<sub>0.9</sub>Co<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5+? </sub> SOFC Cathodes Prepared by Infiltration into Gd Doped Ceria Scaffolds

In this work, the electrocatalytic properties of novel cathodes prepared by infiltration NdBa 0.9 Co 2 O 5+ ? (NBC) into porous Gd doped Ceria (GDC) scaffolds are investigated, and comparison is provided with La 0.6 Sr 0.4 0.2 Fe 0.8 3? (LSCF) infiltrated GDC cathodes. For both formulations, symmetric cells fabricated blade coating aqueous nitrate precursor solutions until reaching 25% w/w load. The effects calcination temperature explored between 750 °C 950 for NBC-GDC Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy polarization experiments performed to study activity in oxygen reduction reaction. Compared LSCF-GDC, a remarkable improvement resistance found on best performing cathode 500 700 (0.022 ? cm vs 0.1 at °C). A shift rate determining step characterizes performance above 650 °C, wherein interfacial oxide ion transfer prevails, while below surface exchange dominates. Different stability behaviors observed ageing up 200 h: electrodes show constant ohmic moderate 550 LSCF-GDC experience degradation.
